National Sex Offender Registry Highlights Prevention

You can now find prevention and education resources on the national registry website, including links to StopItNow.org

The Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) has just added resources for Prevention and Education by age category - children, teens and adults. Stop It Now! was tapped to provide technical assistance in developing these sections, including information, links and feedback.

“We know from our website users that often people looking to prevent sexual abuse think first about the sex offender registry. It’s a tremendous step forward to have prevention information readily available giving visitors the chance to take action immediately toward preventing another child from being abused,” explained Deborah Donovan Rice, Executive Director of Stop It Now!.

Stop It Now! has had a link on other state registry sites including Nebraska and Arizona. Stop It Now! Georgia worked with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to link to Prevention pages on the Stop It Now! Georgia website (see archived pages).

“What’s wonderful about this site is that it differentiates violence prevention information across the life cycle—for children, teens and adults.  We can better prevent abuse if we have a range of accurate information and resources,” said Donovan Rice.
