Partnership with Darkness to Light

After years of working individually at the national level, Stop It Now! and Darkness to Light have joined forces to help advance the national movement to prevent child sexual abuse. Over the next three years, we will be working together on three goals:

• Education and support to federal agencies to increase the integration of child sexual abuse prevention policies and practices into their programs.
• Cooperatively developing and distributing prevention programming.
• Proactively coordinating with other leaders and advocates to develop the child sexual abuse prevention movement.

These goals reflect our complementary program strengths and our shared belief that we can have much greater impact together than apart. Already, two significant national funders, the Ittleson Foundation and the Ms. Foundation have provided leadership funding for this effort.

Federal Agency Outreach

As the single largest funder of youth and children’s programs in the United States, the U.S. federal government has a pivotal role in shaping child safety policies and practices. Integrating child sexual abuse prevention policy and practices into federally-funded programs can contribute significantly to changing norms and standards for caring for children in thousands of organizations across the country. Movement Building

Both organizations have a long history of collaborating with leaders in the child sexual abuse prevention field, most recently as members of the National Coalition to Prevent Child Abuse and Exploitation in the United States. As two national organizations, Stop It Now! and D2L recently invited Prevent Child Abuse America, which recently increased their emphasis on preventing child sexual abuse, to join with us to expand our impact in the field.
