National Child Abuse Prevention Month
April 2024
Every year, April is always an especially busy and social month for us here at Now! as we get to share so many resources from great organizations promoting the prevention of child sexual abuse.
One organization we always find so useful to highlight for our audiences is Child Welfare Information Gateway, and we are so happy to join them again this year in their 2024 campaign for National Prevention Month, "Doing Things Differently: Moving from the Challenge to the Change".
This campaign includes free aids like the Outreach Toolkit, a concise packet, full of materials like resources, graphics, and timelines to help you educate and engage your community in the many ways they can support children, youth, and families this month.
Child Welfare's 2023/2024 Prevention Resource Guide is also worth recognizing. This robust piece offers critical information on how organizations like grant receipients and national agencies are taking action to engage families, the need to be aware and address the impacts of prevention factors at a variety of levels (societal, systemic, organizational, familial) and tools, developed with direct input from individuals with lived experience, to aid practicitioners in having conversations with parents and caregivers.
Funders of our platform for youth, What's OK?, World Childhood Foundation's new, groundbreaking report shines a spotlight on the child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSEA) crisis in the United States. 25 of the 28 U.S. states studied failed in their efforts to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse; only 3 states scored slightly above a failing grade.
Every state MUST step up their efforts to keep children safe from harm.
Circles of Safety, Now!'s signature training series that will teach you how to actively keep children safe wherever they learn, play, and grow, has new training dates available!
