Federal Grant to Boost Help Services

"This program has invested years educating families ... about effective ways to protect children from abuse before it happens, and they've had proven results"

- Senator John Kerry

Funding to expand our Help Services

With the support of our Massachusetts legislative delegation, Stop It Now! is set to receive Federal funding to expand our Help Services and reinvigorate our free Helpline phone service.

Economic downturn spurs innovation

As you know, we were not spared in the economic downturn that began in 2008. Its effect on our key sources of support - private donors and especially family foundations - impacted our plans to shift programming, relaunch our website, and expand our Help Services.

Since its inception, our national Helpline had been funded entirely from private sources. We were forced to make a very difficult decision to curtail our free national Helpline service, which results in staff and service reductions.

Online services respond to demand - now and in the future

Fortunately, funding for our website enabled us to complete the online expansion of our Help Services, with the launch of the Online Help Center and new StopItNow.org just over a year ago.

This allows us to reach even more people with the accurate information, guidance and support and resources they look to us to provide.

Demand Still Strong

The need for our Help Services is still strong. Over the past year, we continued to answer calls to our Helpline and respond to a regular flow of emails seeking help and resources.

Inquiries continue to come from those who want to take action to prevent sexual abuse, but are not sure what to do or who to ask for help.

Often the first thing they tell us is how relieved they are to have found us.
