PhD Scholarship - Child Sexual Abuse Prevention
Ph.D. Scholarship Available for Research on Child Sexual Abuse Prevention
In recognition of the 2010 World Day for Child Abuse Prevention (November 19), the University of Huddersfield together with Stop It Now! have re-opened applications for a PhD Scholarship focused on the prevention of child sexual abuse.
The scholarship is one of several activities designed to strengthen child abuse prevention efforts worldwide and arises out of a unique partnership between Stop It Now! and the Centre for Applied Childhood Studies (CACS) at the University of Huddersfield, UK.
This relationship developed after Stop It Now! learned of the UNICEF-funded research project on child sexual abuse in the Eastern Caribbean led by Dr. Adele Jones, Director of the Centre. The community-based prevention programming of Stop It Now! was known to Dr. Jones previously. The Memorandum of Understanding between the University and Stop It Now! paves the way for follow-up research, exchange and pilot programs on culturally-appropriate child sexual abuse prevention in two regions of the world.
The Stop It Now! Ph.D. Scholarship includes a full University fee waiver to complete three years of full-time study and research in the area of child sexual abuse prevention leading to a doctoral degree. The Scholarship is offered by the School of Health and Human Sciences, University of Huddersfield and the successful applicant will be located within the Centre for Applied Childhood Studies.
For information about the scholarship, application process & where to go with questions, see the scholarship advertisement.
Candidates from low and middle income countries are especially encouraged to apply.
Applications are due to the University of Huddersfield by January 3, 2011.
