In an Open Letter to the Higher Education Community, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced its partnership with Stop It Now!® on preventing child sexual abuse. Stop It Now! is joining forces to provide facts, guidance and resources to adults who are concerned about child sexual abuse and want to take action to keep children safe.
As NCAA President Mark Mark Emmert writes: "The truth is none of us knows how deeply issues of sexual abuse run within the education community at any level or society as a whole. But we know that one instance is more than we can bear. It must also be true and broadly understood that sexual abuse will not be tolerated..."
Since 1992 Stop It Now!® has been helping adults, families and communities speak up and have difficult conversations with one another about the sexual abuse of children. As Deborah Donovan Rice, Executive Director explains, "In its simplest form, our approach to prevention is about engaging adults in a dialogue; getting people to talk openly about their concerns and providing them with the tools and support necessary to protect children before they are harmed."
